What is CPAP treatment?
CPAP, or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, is the most common treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The CPAP machine is a small device which delivers a constant flow of air through mask or nasal CPAP, which is worn during your sleep. This jet of air is just strong enough to keep your airways open, which alleviates - but doesn’t cure - the symptoms of Sleep Apnea. You may have Sleep Apnea if you have:
- Trouble focusing
- Heavy snoring
- Headaches and migraines
- Restless sleep
- Depression and irritability
Is CPAP treatment right for me?
Wearing a mask for any extended period of time can feel uncomfortable. This deters many people from seeing CPAP as an option, even though the positives vastly outweigh the negatives. As you spend time getting used to your mask, it will get easier and easier to wear, and you’ll begin to notice the benefits of getting a proper, healthy sleep.
However, many people have extra difficulty becoming accustomed to CPAP treatment, whether it’s from the mask itself, the noise and disruption of the machine, or the difficulty of taking the machine to travel. Oral Appliance Therapy is a treatment growing rapidly in popularity which offers a solution to these issues. By using a new technology called the MatRX developed by Zephyr Air, we are able to determine with near-perfect accuracy if you are a candidate for Oral Appliance Therapy.
